adidas ZX500 – Preview

Scheduled for release in the near future is the update to adidas’ classic sneaker, first released in 1984, the ZX500. Ever popular through its twenty-five years, its sleek design and striking colourways have ensured it stays on the feet of runners and ravers alike. This version sees the Zx500 given a smart cyan blue suede and nylon upper, complimented by a flash of flamingo pink. This is kept under control with a neutral grey midsole and heel. As always, the famous three stripes and trefoil are present, with flamingo piping providing the finishing touches.

adidas x Star Wars

The start of 2010 sees adidas make the short trip over to the dark side, teaming up with Darth Vader and co. for the release of their Star Wars collaboration. Scheduled for release on 16th January, the Herzogenaurach-based label have paid compliment to Lucas’ space operas with a very original collection.

I have to admit, when I first heard about this I wasn’t very interested and was ready to dismiss it in the same way I shunned past adidas collabs, in particular the whole Kermit the Frog / Stan Smith thing . But after having a really good look at the collection, I changed my tune. Granted, some of it is just a bit OTT for me but other pieces are simply enhanced by the Star Wars theme, and not overhelmed by it. As a bonus, the items come in uber-cool packaging in the style of toy packages. This is most certainly a collection aimed at those with a retro fetish.

adidas Lwin Padded Jacket

Padded jackets were all the bizzle back in the 80s and they have definitely made a resurgence. This jacket is a good example of why…

The down padding is provided courtesy of Mr and Mrs Goose and Duck, and there is a concealed hood to keep the rain, sleet and snow off your tasty barnet. This adidas Originals piece comes in orange and black, and both carry contrast nylon outer panelling. For me, it’s with the orange that this contrast really comes to life – plus a strong colour goes a long way to finishing off that ‘throwback-to-the-eighties’ look. So, yeah… This jacket is hot. It’s gonna look great open – especially with its Adi Dassler Photoprint Lining – with a heavy check shirt, maybe in purple?
