Known for their highly-regarded running sneaks, New Balance have gone the other way here and released from their back-catalogue the P790, more at home on the feet of Zack Morris than Steve Cram.

Yet, despite its rich heritage in the running department, New Balance also has a history in basketball, becoming synonymous with one man back in the ’80s – NBA Hall of Famer, James Worthy. ‘Big Game James’ notched up three NBA championships with the LA Lakers between 1982 and 1994, and these kicks continue his legacy.

These beauties come in ’80s Lakers colours, purple and gold, with ankle padding that goes so far up it will tickle your arm pits.

Oh, and here is a pic of ‘Big Game James’ reppin’ the P790s on court against the Detroit Pistons.

Get ‘em over at Swedish store Shelta, the streetwear and sneaker experts, for (approx.) £88, not including P&P.

A well-established brand in the sporting arena and on the street fashion scene, New Balance has joined forces with Berlin-based footwear specialists Overkill to release the Overkill x New Balance 577 ‘Berlin Wall’ pack – available in three colourways.

These carry a logo of the Berlin Wall on their tongue and are dedicated to the fall of the Berlin Wall, although their release is a little after the 20th Anniversary. Still, the impact is there and collectively these sneakers make for a stimulating pack.

Oh, and if you want these you better be rapid – there are only 577 of each colourway released worldwide.
